Be a Thunderbird for a Day……………….So you find yourself sitting on the fence, maybe you have a uniform, corps jacket, maybe a horn or a parade shirt, and you just don't know if you want to be active or not, well, be a Thunderbird for a Day! Hornline Upgrade…………….When it is all said and done, the corps will have invested over $8000.00 in the upgrading of the hornline to three valve instruments this season alone. We have recently completed the purchase of 10 Kanstul sopranos, 3 Kanstul mellophones, 11 Kanstul baritones, and 2 Kanstul 3-valve contra conversion kits. These purchases along with the members, who have chosen to purchase their own 3 valve instruments in the past, should hold the hornline for a good long time. Thanks go out to everyone who has supported our fundraisers and contributed items and cash to the VIP Club. There is a small percentage of this investment yet to be paid off, but the board is happy to report that no bank loans were contracted for this purpose.

Wow, What a Show………….The Corps outdid itself once again with a "blow the walls down" performance at the "Serenade in Brass" spring standstill held in Harrisburg in late April, and brought the crowd to a rousing standing ovation at the end of the performance. Everyone involved put out 110% for the show, and the weeks leading up to it. Mickey Petrone, President of DCA, heard so many favorable reports of our performance, that it prompted him to call and invite us to perform exhibition at the DCA contest being held in Andover, NY on June 29th.

The Corps Summer Family Picnic……….All past and present Alumni are invited for a fun filled family day which will include a performance at Conneaut Lake Park on Sunday, June 23rd at 3pm. Park opens at noon, performing members should be there no later than 1:30p.m. Uniforms will be green golf shirts, hats, black pants and black shoes. Performing members will receive two free ride-a-rama passes, the cost for additional passes is $5.00. The Corps will provide Beverages, Hamburgers and Hotdogs. Everyone is asked to bring a hot or cold dish. DIRECTIONS to the park: Interstate 79 to Exit 147 (old 36B) (Conneaut Lake), follow signs to route 618, turn right, park is 2 miles on the right.
DCA 2002, Scranton, PA…Rooms have been booked for DCA weekend. Current plans for the trip this year include the Mini Corps competition. Mark your calendars and contact Gary for room reservations and details.
